Meet the Exhibitor: Meet Marlene’s Folk Art

Who is exhibiting at the 44th Annual Society of Decorative Painters International Conference & Expo in San Diego this June? Marlene has been exhibiting at the Society of Decorative Painters International Conference & Expo for many years. This year, she’ll have over 80 of her acrylic packets and would love to have you stop by her booth to check them out.

“I’m really excited about releasing my new book, ‘Marlene’s Happy Tangles’”, says Marlene. “This book includes some of my ink and pencil designs, with the addition of colored pencil. Try this new technique, and check out my other products; I have a couple other books and all the supplies you need to get you started.”

Meet the Artist: Meet Rumi Fukushima MDA

Issue #2 of the 2016 The Decorative Painter magazine is in the mail and is being sent to all current members of the Society of Decorative Painters! Over the past few weeks, we’ve been introducing you to the artists in the current issue and sharing the inspiration behind their finished projects.

Today meet Rumi Fukushima MDA and get a preview of her project, “Morning Fruit”, which graces the cover of this issue.

Rumi began decorative oil painting and joined SDP in 1997. She earned the Certified Decorative Artist Certification in 2002, and the Master Decorative Artist Certification in 2008. Rumi teaches painting classes, is a travel-teacher and has a home studio.

Today we meet Veronica Fernandez and get a preview of her project, “Owl-Birds of Prey”!

Veronica was born in Argentina. For 10 years she has been an active decorative painter, starting when she was just eight years old. Currently, she is the owner, director and teacher for her art gallery, Veronikarte, located in Asuncion, Paraguay. She also teaches at seminars, conferences and workshops in countries throughout South America.
