Finally, 80% of our product is manufactured in the USA!

Is there anything else you want us to promote to our attendees?

In a few words, tell us about the class you’re teaching at Oceans of Color.

Combined, we bring our different styles to our Dare 2 Create workshops. While Andy's work is described as "edgy, dark and enigmatic”, Tracy work is all about joyful color and self-expression. While our styles are diverse it's our passion for art and life that binds us together and truly brings a unique experience to anyone participating in our workshops.

Why should someone take your class?

Our workshop is technique-based and caters to all levels of art experience. We bring fun and tons of techniques in every class we teach. No two classes are the same and we love the opportunity to collaborate and share our love for mixed media! We also provide education on the products from our sponsors including DecoArt, Inc., Stampendous, Dynasty Brushes, and Dare 2B Artzy.

What are you looking forward to the most at Oceans of Color?

We are looking forward to meeting new people, and seeing those who have taken our workshops before and choose to do it again. We are honored the Society of Decorative Painters asked us to teach this special event class! Our plan is to make it special for all who join us!

What do you love most about the painting industry?

We love the combination of decorative painting and mixed media. We have seen our workshops elevated by the talent of decorative painters. We love that moment when people get that collaboration and are open to our ideas as we learn from them! It truly is an amazing thing to be part of!

We invite you to check out our Dare 2 Create Special Event and join us for some mixed media, fun and laughter!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I began my art “career” at the ripe old age of seven with a box of pastels from my grandmother. Art has always been a part of my life. I often included illustrations with school reports and projects. I obtained a degree in theater and costume design, and was active in community theater for many years. I discovered decorative painting in 1986 and have been addicted ever since. I began teaching in 1987 when friends asked me to “show them how to do that!” I have my own teaching studio a few steps from my home and teach on a regular basis.

In a few words, tell us about the class you’re teaching at Oceans of Color.

Several years ago, I heard a story entitled “Keep Your Fork, the Best is Yet to Come.” Ever since that time I have wanted to design something with a fork. I found an old fork that was perfect for what I wanted to do and at 3am, I woke up with the color palette and techniques that I wanted to try.

Why should someone take your class?

This project involves acrylic and colored pencil. Although I will have the painting portion of the project completed for you; you will have the opportunity to try basic colored pencil techniques to create the detailed values and shapes of the fork. The neutral color palette goes with most decorating schemes and is a wonderful value study. I have a surprise technique that I used for the background and will demonstrate before we start using the pencils!

What are you looking forward to the most at Oceans of Color?

For me, the best part of going to the annual SDP Conference & Expo is meeting up with all the friends that I have made over the years. This year, I am really looking forward to a few walks on the beach and sinking my toes into the sand!

What do you love most about the painting industry?

What I love most about the painting industry are the people. They speak my language! Of course I love all the great products that stimulate my creative juices and motivate me to try new things.

Register for Wendy’s class and our other classes and events at Oceans of Color. Stay tuned to meet another teacher next week right here on the SDP Blog!
